Objectives:
The mission of the scientific sessions subcommittee is to develop and organize an annual scientific meeting focused on meeting the goals of the ICEBP mission statement. The scientific meeting will cover topics related to all other subcommittees. In addition, the subcommittee will be charged with examining areas into which the meeting can grow to allow demonstration of sustained improvement in the care provided to patients.
The second annual Best Practices in Perfusion Meeting will be held in Montreal on October 4-6, 2007. For up-to-date information regarding this meeting please go to:

Some notable highlights of the meeting will be the use of TurningPoint audience response system that integrates 100% into Microsoft® PowerPoint® and allows audiences to participate in presentations or lectures by submitting responses to interactive questions using a ResponseCard® keypad. Dwayne Jones (perfusionist from Kitchener, Ontario) has provided us with this wonderful tool.
AmSECT’s Government Relations Committee (GRC) will be conducting their meeting in conjunction with the Best Practices Meeting. Additionally, the Perfusion Program Directors Council (PPDC) is considering holding their meeting in conjunction with the Best Practices meeting. This is great news for those attending the Best Practices Meeting, as it will afford opportunities to interact with members of the GRC and PPDC. The ICEBP Scientific Sessions Planning Committee members are working hard to have GRC and PPDC members actively participate in the Best Practices meeting schedule.
Lastly, there has been a good level of communication from foreign perfusionists interested in attending and participating in this meeting.
In summary, the hard work and commitment demonstrated by the ICEBP Scientific Subcommittee members is beginning to pay off as this meeting has the necessary accompaniments to be a very content rich and practical (useful) meeting.
